"Help us educate consumers and small business owners and managers about insurance."
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), a voluntary organization of the chief insurance regulatory officials of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories, engaged CooperKatz & Company to create and launch a comprehensive national pubic education program to help consumers get smart about insurance issues. Under the banner of Insure U, the program has two major objectives: to provide consumers with the information they need to select the right type of insurance coverage to fit their needs at different life stages and to educate them about the dangers of worthless policies from fake insurance companies.
To deliver this vital information to the public, we created the following educational components:
- An engaging consumer education Web site, www.InsureUonline.org, is packed with helpful, unbiased information about auto, homeowners/renters, life and health insurance for consumers in different life stages: young singles, young families, established families and seniors. This entire site is available in English and Spanish.
- A second educational Web Site devoted to Small Business insurance issues, including workers compensation, business property and liability, commercial auto, group health and disability, group life and key person life, and home-based business insurance. This site is also available in English and Spanish.
- TV and radio public service announcements in English and Spanish focused on the Fight Fake Insurance initiative. To view the TV PSA, click here.
- CooperKatz also created a Public Service Announcement to educate the public long-term care insurance. To view the 'Long-Term Care Is Not a Game,' TV PSA, click here.
- A continuous program of consumer research that has uncovered a wide array of insurance issues about which consumers need to be educated.
- A proactive media campaign to disseminate helpful tips and advisories on concerns ranging from car rental insurance to disaster preparedness.
- Community presentations and literature for public education use by individual state insurance departments.
Media results of the ongoing Insure U and Insure U for Small Business programs have included national media coverage in AP, Reuters, USA Today, USA Weekend, Chicago Tribune, New York Daily News, The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Investor's Business Daily, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Miami Herald, and The Kansas City Star. Broadcast coverage has included KRQE-CBS, WBMA-ABC, WGHP-FOX, WJXT-IND, WRIV-AM, NY-1, NY-1 Noticias, Telemundo 47 and CNN radio as well as Wall Street Journal "This Morning," among many other media outlets.
