Help us be "Upfront" with our advertising partners.

Following an extremely successful 2003 Upfront presentation, the CooperKatz Creative Services group re-teamed with DePalma Productions and Discovery Networks Creative and Ad Sales Marketing teams to write, design, produce and stage the Discovery Networks US 2004 Upfront Presentation.

On March 23, 2004, close to 700 media buyer clients and press attended the two-hour program which was held in the LeFrak I-Max Theater at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Led by the President of Discovery Networks US, Billy Campbell and President of Advertising Sales, Joe Abruzzese, attendees received important ad sales research information and were wowed by the presentation of advertising opportunities on 13 networks including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, BBC America and Travel Channel.

The 3-screen, high-definition, surround sound multimedia extravaganza was enhanced by programming "brought to life" with visits from various Discovery Network Programming stars such as:

  • Paige Davis and Doug Wilson from TLC’s "Trading Spaces"
  • Stacy London and Clinton Kelly from TLC’s "What Not to Wear"
  • Herpetoligist Steve Austin, and his friendly cobra, from Animal Planet’s "Snakemaster"

The audience was also treated to:

  • The chance for an audience member to make one of their dreams come true as part of the launch announcement for the Discovery Channel Show "Discovery Now"
  • A live satellite discussion with Pulitzer Prize winning NY Times Foreign Affairs Correspondent and Discovery Times personality, Thomas Friedman
  • The special presentation of a custom made bike to John Hendricks, founder of Discovery, by the Teutels, stars of Discovery Channel’s "American Chopper," to celebrate 20 years of network programming

The show was also adapted for a regional version that played for advertiser audiences in Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles.
