Bunker Bob Launches
Y2K Tour Across America
in Glass House on Wheels

A Coast-to-Coast Quest in Search of the Ideal City

MIAMI (September 9, 1999) – As the nation braces for the excitement and uncertainty that Year 2000 will bring, "Bunker Bob" will begin a four-month, 40-city Y2K Tour Across America – starting in Miami on September 9 – in his eye-popping, fully furnished glass house on wheels.

The roaming bunker features all the comforts of home – a bedroom, bath, living/dining area, den, kitchenette and more, thanks to HomePoint.com, the online home furnishing supersite. It also has state-of-the-art technology, including cellular service, Internet access and video/audio capabilities.

Bunker Bob will visit all the great cities, sights, patriotic places and unusual locations across America. While touring the country from September 9 to December 31, he will meet with local elected officials and chamber of commerce representatives to learn what’s great about their city so that he can ultimately pick the final nesting place for his unusual abode. He will also assemble a national time capsule, accepting small mementos and souvenirs from each place he visits.

Bunker Bob is a 26-year old, patriotic man. He grew up in Veazie, Maine, with a taste for travel and a passion for the unexpected. He loves music and even has his own country tune, "The Ballad of Bunker Bob." He’s an amiable guy hoping to make thousands of new friends as he visits the great U.S. cities and all the special places in between.

"It seemed to me that some folks out there were taking this whole millennium thing too seriously. That gave me the idea to put the Y2K issue in perspective," says Bunker Bob. "In my beautiful, glass enclosed bunker, I’ve got the perfect picture window on America. And by the end of the year, I’ll know the ideal place for me and my bunker to settle down for the next century."
