CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—September 16, 1999—Spotfire, Inc. today announced an agreement with Oxford Molecular Group to provide researchers access to Oxford Molecular’s RS3 Discovery database through Spotfire software. Both leading providers of technical and scientific support software, Oxford Molecular has worked with Spotfire to enable scientists and cheminformatics professionals to access biological activity and chemical structure data stored in RS3 for interactive exploration and analysis in Spotfire Structure Visualizer™ and Spotfire Pro™. The agreement extends both companies’ decision support offerings for the cheminformatics segment of pre-clinical drug discovery.
Researchers can access RS3 data via a version of Spotfire Structure Visualizer™ developed specifically for use with RS3. Spotfire Structure Visualizer for RS3 and Spotfire Pro together enable researchers to interactively analyze chemical and biological data in the same session and share their results and recommendations via the Web.

Spotfire Pro helps life sciences researchers query disparate scientific databases, access the output of lab instrumentation systems and visually analyze the combined results from their desktops. Researchers can therefore concentrate their efforts on the most promising new drug candidates. Spotfire Structure Visualizer allows researchers to view chemical structure and activity data from Spotfire Pro and examine the relationships between structural attributes and measured activity.
RS3 Discovery offers data structures, interfaces and applications designed to let chemists store, search, retrieve and display compounds in one easy-to-use package. This scalable and extensible Web-enabled technology is based in Oracle™ to provide seamless integration with enterprise-wide, chemically related data catalogs.
