Fresh Faces is a series on our blog in which we introduce new members of the CooperKatz team. In this post, get to know our new account coordinator, Anna St. Clair!
I’ve always enjoyed writing and journalism. I was an editor on my high school paper and wrote for my college paper as well. As a liberal arts major in college, I wasn’t quite sure of my career path for a while. During my freshman year, my college paper had a journalism conference where they brought in professional journalists to talk about issues and careers in journalism, but they also brought in PR professionals. This was my first exposure to PR and I was instantly hooked. I had never before thought about the other side of reporting – the PR professionals who are shaping stories and working to get experts in the media every day. I completed an internship and felt like communications was a perfect career fit for me.
I love strolling through Central Park on a warm, spring day. Ideally that stroll is completed by lounging on the lawns. I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer and to see the trees blooming.
I read this great article in New York Magazine called Teens Already Know How to Overthrow the Government. It’s about how the teens in Parkland, Florida, who are now leading the gun reform movement, grew up with literature and films like Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. In these narratives, it’s young people who are leading the fight against injustice, and now teens today are inspired to be politically active. It shows just how much power and influence fiction and pop-culture can have on a generation.
I’m not sure if there is one gift I’ve received that I can call the absolute best, but I will say I actually enjoy receiving gift cards. There’s a lot of debate as to whether gift cards are seen as a cop-out, but I actually love getting a Starbucks gift card.
I would have to say Hermione Granger. I would love spending a day at Hogwarts.
