Ithaca College, Class of 2017
What do you study?
My major is integrated marketing communications with a minor in nutrition promotion.
What is the best class you’ve ever taken, and why did you love it?
The best class I’ve ever taken was Lifecycle Nutrition. I loved the class because it was extremely interactive and engaging. Nutrition is something that I’m very passionate about, so learning about its importance at various stages of life was fascinating to me.
Why did you decide to intern in the PR industry?
I decided to intern in the industry after my experience in a public relations class at school. We worked in teams to develop a PR proposal for a local bed and breakfast. It was our job to revive its brand image and develop a communications plan. I really enjoyed collaborating with my teammates and our client. It was rewarding to see our proposal come to life and impact our client’s business in such a positive way. I like PR because it’s a very exciting and fast-paced field, and it requires you to be both creative and strategic.
What are you liking best about CooperKatz?
My last internship was in a corporate setting, so it’s really nice to experience the agency side of things. It’s only been a few weeks, but I’m already learning a lot. Everyone is helpful and welcoming, and I’m working on several accounts and projects, which is really neat. I get a glimpse into a variety of industries from real estate to healthcare to financial services. I wanted an internship that would challenge me and provide hands-on opportunities, and I’m already finding that at CooperKatz.
What’s the best thing about NYC so far?
I’ve only ever been to the city twice before this, so to me it’s still very novel and exciting. It’s refreshing to be around so many career-oriented people. Spending the semester in NYC will be a great opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone, experience new places, and learn from really talented people in the PR industry.
What are your plans after graduation?
I still have a year-and-a-half until graduation, but I hope to have a job at a PR agency. I think that NYC is a great place to start your career, so I would definitely consider relocating from Upstate New York to pursue an opportunity down here.
