Petfinder’s Big Birthday Weekend


The number 15 was extra special for adoptable pets this year. celebrated its 15th birthday, partnered with more than 1,500 shelters and rescue groups and surpassed its goal of more than 15,000 pet adoptions at their Big Birthday Adoption Event!


CooperKatz lent a hand in planning, organizing and promoting’s Big Birthday Adoption Event that took place in cities and towns across North America during the weekend of July 15-17. The largest online database of adoptable pets set the bar high for its birthday celebration and managed to exceed its adoption goal! By the end of the weekend, found forever homes for more than 15,700 adoptable pets.


While worked closely with shelters and rescue groups in 10 major markets to plan larger celebrations, nearly 1,500 groups held events in their own local communities across the U.S. as well as in Canada and the Dominican Republic. At these events, local shelters were able to keep tabs on their progress through Petfinder’s nifty adoption tracker. Many held fun and engaging contests and parties in honor of the special birthday.


With the help of CooperKatz, the Big Birthday Adoption Event received more than 500 media hits, including USA Today, TheBokenOnline.comand It was included in 29 broadcast news shows and was mentioned in print publications multiple times. Much of the media coverage highlighted the rich history of Petfinder, including how it has helped to find homes for more than 17 million pets over the years!


As with many other Petfinder initiatives, like Help Adopt the Internet Day back in March, social media played an important role in the excitement leading up to the event and during the weekend. There were more than 1.2 million online impressions thanks to Facebook postings, and tweets made about the event had the potential to reach more than 600,000 people!
