Kelsey Thompson brings experience in media, business and marketing communications to her role on the CooperKatz team. She currently supports the UTC Building & Industrial Systems unit (which includes Otis Elevator Company and Carrier), TD Bank, Sarah Lawrence College and The Physicians Foundation, a nonprofit organization that seeks to advance the work of practicing physicians. Across all her accounts, she has built strong capabilities in both media relations and social media.
Previously at CooperKatz, Kelsey supported Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Inc., Glucerna Advance, Green Ivy Schools (a network of progressive child-centered schools in Lower Manhattan) and The Guardian Life Small Business Research Institute, an intellectual resource devoted to better understanding America’s small business owners.
Prior to joining CooperKatz, Kelsey served as the business manager of The Daily Collegian, Pennsylvania State University’s student-run newspaper. She was responsible for overseeing an annual budget of $1.4 million while managing approximately 100 staff members in the customer service, sales, promotions, creative and layout departments. Under her direction, the team increased yearly net gain and developed successful business partnerships with Best Buy and Greater Philadelphia Media.
In addition, Kelsey spent two years as an account associate with Happy Valley Communications, Penn State’s student-run PR firm. She worked with clients from the governmental, nonprofit and business sectors, supporting execution of media relations, event planning and social media initiatives. She and her team were responsible for securing media placements in local and statewide publications as well as organizing a professional demo day event that attracted investors from Silicon Valley, Boston and New York.
Kelsey holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising / public relations with a minor in political science from Pennsylvania State University.
